HOPE – what is it to be exact?
It’s the desire for a certain thing to happen, as a matter of fact.

It’s more than just a wish from a doubting Thomas,
It’s the confident expectation of a soon-to-be-fulfilled promise.

And the belief that your circumstances will definitely get better,
Knowing in the meantime you can put up with whatever.

HOPE is something to be protected each and every day,
Or else you could lose it altogether, somewhere along the way.

I know at times it’s hard to hang on to the concept of HOPE,
When you’re dangling by one hand at the end of your rope.

However, if you can adjust your grip and cling to it tight,
HOPE gives you the stamina to carry on with the fight.

And when partnered with both faith and love,
HOPE inspires you to somehow rise above.

The scriptures tell us that HOPE never disappoints,
Sustaining perseverance in the one that it anoints.

An unknown authors says to never give it up,
Even when all is lost and everything is fu... rustrating.

People without it criticize, ‘What, you still believe? You dope.”
But don’t listen… for the foundation of the impossible is unrelenting HOPE.

A drowning person will clutch at a straw,
The unbelievable is something someone believed they already saw.

And I think of the people wrongly imprisoned,
As they picture their freedom, locked in on the vision.

And those battling with many a torturous demon,
Steadfast in faith, knowing they won’t be beaten.

To the ones sick and suffering, who can’t take anymore,
May you convince yourself to believe you will endure.

And there are some deep down in the pit of despair,
Would someone with a lifeline throw them HOPE they can spare.

For HOPE makes a victim a victor in the worst situation,
It fuels the soul and otherworldly determinati on.

So when the voices shout ‘Give Up!’, you tell them ‘Nope’,
My spirit is secured to the anchor of HOPE.
