LIFE

LIFE it is the greatest teacher,
Better than any professor or preacher.

You are born into it helpless and crying,
Funny, you end up just like this when it begins dying.

At the start of it…
you don’t know anything, then you learn something, then you believe you know everything,

At the end of it you realize…
you know almost everything, about a little something, which overall is really nothing.

Yes, LIFE is a complicated occurrence,
Which apparently now requires insurance.

They say LIFE is short, it’s good, and it goes on,
That it’s a blessing, a curse, and a marathon.

Or a journey, a gift, and a miracle,
A mystery, a blur - that is beautiful.

Sometimes it isn’t fair, it’s a process and a fight,
A gamble, a test, a jest, but still it’s a right.

Some believe it is a dream, a game, a song, and a play,
A bowl of cherries, a box of chocolates, and, of course, a highway.

At it’s best it is a party, a beach, a high tide,
At it’s worst it is a struggle, a jungle, a wild ride.

Indeed LIFE has many personalities and faces,
It is filled with countless people and places.

It has twists and turns, highs and lows,
Triumphs and tragedies, that’s the way it goes.

It takes you through a valley then up the mountaintop,
If you hang on long enough and do not try to stop.

Many folks have gone through it before,
To pass on a little, so we could know more.

And as one ends, another one starts,
With the breathing of breaths, and the beating of hearts.

Is it just an accident on a rock in space?
Or a purposeful design to reach another place?

Greet every day of it with a thankful introduction,
Make the best of all of it and be open to instruction.

Embrace the miracle, the mystery, and the strife,
Of the profound human experience known as LIFE
