LIVE & FORGIVE

LIVE & FORGIVE - just let it go,
It’s good for your heart, it’s good for your mind, and it’s good for your soul.

LIVE & FORGIVE – bury the hatchet low,
And let bygones be bygones between you and so and so (even if it’s yourself).

LIVE & FORGIVE – let it all fade away,
Because life’s too short to give hate another one of your days.

Sounds ideal - but you don’t know what they did to me,
How they made me feel, I may never heal – now I’m left to be…

Busted and broken and feeling alone and well, this is no way to live,
True.  So may I suggest, instead of resentment, that you try your best to forgive.

For forgiveness does not mean you forget,
You remember the wrong; then you grieve and lament.

And you don’t pretend the situation didn’t transpire,
It’s not healthy or helpful turning yourself into a liar.

Forgiveness never involves making an excuse,
It’s not an attempt to justify the hurt and abuse.

And, yes, sometimes it feels impossible to forgive,
The incident is too heinous… one you angrily relive.

But remember, genuine forgiveness often takes time,
It doesn’t just happen at the drop of a dime.

It’s a process one goes through day after day,
To surrender to self and let love find a way.

And it is not about freeing someone who put you through hell,
It’s about releasing yourself from your own prison cell.

And yes, by forgiving you risk being hurt again,
By that lover, that brother, that co-worker, that friend.

But by making the effort you cultivate an ability,
To purge bitterness and develop tranquillity.

And you will experience this transformative,
Wonderful peace when you LIVE & FORGIVE.
