LOVE
LOVE – it’s much more than the romance of a kiss,
Or the honeymoon-like state of perpetual bliss.
The Greeks used different terms to describe it,
Here’s the list; I will transcribe it.
There’s Eros, meaning sexual passion,
Ludus is affection of a playful fashion.
Pragma that’s longstanding support for someone else,
Philautia is the LOVE of one’s own self.
Storge - family adoration for mother, father, sister, brother
Philia - deep friendship; Agape – pure love for one another.
Yes, LOVE goes by many a face and name,
Like Mi Amor, Wo Ai Ni, Aishiteru, and Je T’aime.
LOVE has qualities with mass appeal,
Like the ability to change and the power to heal.
LOVE stays consistent in sickness and health,
It does not discriminate between poverty and wealth.
It remains faithful for better or worse,
It blesses the many who feel they’re cursed.
LOVE is patient; LOVE is kind,
It does not envy or boast and it has no pride,
It is not rude; it is not self-seeking,
Nor easily angered, it does no record keeping.
It does not delight in evil, but rejoices in the truth,
It always protects, trusts, hopes, perseveres – so put it to good use.
And you know what they say, LOVE will find a way,
And LOVE isn’t LOVE until you give it away.
LOVE is when another person’s happiness is more important that your own,
It is the tie that binds us, and makes a happy home.
You might fall in it, as it can be blind,
It’s all you need; it’s yours and mine.
LOVE means never having to say you’re sorry,
Alas, you can’t buy it; it’s a classic story.
Most importantly LOVE is a daily decision,
That can free the world from its hateful prison.
As you choose to give and choose to sacrifice,
As you choose peace and you choose life.
I know you know the point I’m speaking of,
For you’ve seen the sign… live, laugh, LOVE.
