PERSEVERE

What does it mean to PERSEVERE?
Here’s a description to which the word may adhere…

It is to continue in some purpose, idea, or mission,
In spite of difficulty, discouragement, or opposition.

It is the persistence of sticking to a plan,
Keeping your focus as fixed as when you began.

To PERSEVERE is life’s great dare,
To overcome your challenge even when it’s not fair.

It’s when you get up,
When you want to give up.

It’s when you don’t think you can do it,
But still decide to go through it.

You try a little harder, to go a little farther,
Your resolve gets stronger as the problems get larger.

To PERSEVERE, regardless of circumstance or fear,
It’s something people respect, something people hold dear.

When you fail once, then twice, maybe a 10, 000th time,
But still pursue the unique dream planted in your mind.

When you PERSEVERE, character is constructed,
Skills are acquired and mental blocks unobstructed.

When people decide to PERSEVERE

They hold a marriage together, for worse or for better.
They remember their vows, adhering right to the letter.

They choose to patiently raise a child,
Though the youngster is disobedient and wild.

They keep their faith, when nothing makes sense,
And show love to debtors, no matter what the expense.

They become the champion of an underdog story,
They go from zero to hero, from gutter to glory.

There is something divine at the root of persistence,
That fuels the fairy-tale state of existence.

So when it gets dark, and the path isn’t clear,
Put one foot in front of the other and… PERSEVERE.
