PERSPECTIVE
PERSPECTIVE – it can be objective.
But most of the time it is subjective, selective, and defective.
It depends on what you look for,
Some see less, some see more.
It’s a viewpoint that shapes each thought and decision,
Your action, satisfaction, and the dream you envision.
It’s why poor parts of the world can be happy,
While a wealthy nation’s mood can be crappy.
It is the lens of reality through which people are seeing,
Filtered by experience, culture, status, and well-being.
The glass is half full for the water is there,
The glass is half empty for I only see air.
PERSPECTIVE can be out-dated, overstated, and manipulated.
It can change dramatically,
Overnight, practically.
Or through suffering seasons so painful you barely survive,
In turn, uncovering reasons to be thankful you’re daily alive.
They say there’s power in its views,
Of walking in someone else’s shoes.
You know more you’re not always right,
You grow fore in the gaze of your sight.
Some see a person sitting on the street and think ‘what a bum’,
Addict, convict, degenerate… go back to where you’re from.
But where they came from, they were neglected and abused,
That’s why you see them there now, rejected and confused.
The goal is to make a neutral observation,
Your role is to take all sides of a situation.
And so, let’s agree on a wise directive,
Live in peace and gain PERSPECTIVE.
