SUCCESS

What do you picture when you hear the word ‘SUCCESS’?
Do you have a certain concept of the term more or less?

Most people envision attaining money, power, and fame,
And gaining respect, while building a name.

Words like triumph and prosperity often come to mind,
But how exactly is SUCCESS defined?

The truth is that the meaning is different for each and every soul,
And you need to understand it’s both a journey and a goal.

Asking several questions can narrow down SUCCESS,
But they must be answered surely; it’s not a kind of, sort of guess.   

Such as…
What truly matters to me?
What do I want to be?
What sorts of things set my passion on fire?
What type of life do I desire?

If you don’t define SUCCESS, someone will do it for you,
And you may end up climbing a mountain that might genuinely bore you.

That’s how people end up rich but unhappy,
Looking good on the outside, but inside feeling crappy.

And some build an empire without knowing why,
Surrounded by people, yet so lonely they could die.

Yes, sometimes folks pursue the wrong definition of SUCCESS,
One that doesn’t match their values… causing them distress.

So don’t believe what others say what it is to be a winner,
Know thyself, like no one else; and you’ll get your chicken dinner.

For I think SUCCESS is scratching through the surface,
Looking beneath the great facade to find your holy purpose.

You may be surprised at what you uncover,
Instead of a fighter, you might be a lover.

Then SUCCESS looks like giving hope to the hopeless,
Getting those who’ve been stuck to finally progress.

Or showing kindness to someone that’s never known mercy,
Perhaps, giving a drink to a soul that is genuinely thirsty.

Or teaching someone, something that helps him or her get by,
Becoming a shoulder on which a hurting heart can cry.

SUCCESS is about fulfilling your unique mission,
I trust you will work toward that one and only vision.

And when you see it to fruition, you’ll joyously cheer - Yes!
