WHY DON’T YOU BELIEVE IN GOD?
WHY DON’T YOU BELIEVE IN GOD?
Does the thought of Him just seem too odd?
Are you now more concerned I called God Him and not Her,
Is your mind made up on the matter and it won’t be deterred?
I’m not accusing or eagerly prompting you,
I just genuinely wonder exactly what’s stopping you?
God… perhaps you cringe when you hear that word?
You think, ahh the whole concept is so absurd.
This is not an attempt to stir up the pot,
I’m just hoping you’ll think outside of your box.
WHY DON’T YOU BELIEVE IN GOD?
Write it down each pro, each con.
Some of you will, but most of you won’t,
You think I just don’t believe, plain and simple, I don’t.
However, if you are making a list,
It probably goes something like this…
1. Well, God can’t be real, there’s too much pain,
But is it a lack of God that’s to blame?
See, human beings created a broken world,
Thus, unleashing suffering on every boy and girl.
Could God be the strength that keeps us keeping on,
When at many times we were too far-gone?
2. Well, Science proves God doesn’t exist,
But is this true dear scientist?
For according to systematic scientific observation,
Measurement, experiment, and formulation,
You’d have to go everywhere in dimension, time, and space,
To declare, I’ve searched for The Almighty without a trace.
Isn’t Science simply uncovering,
The many things God hid for discovering?
But evolution and God do not jive,
Really? They do if Yahweh made us alive.
It’s like a child believing there’s nothing more,
To the whole of mathematics than two plus two is four.
God has nothing to fear from Science, nor Science from The Maker,
Will one prove the Other – will this be the peacemaker?
3. Well, I’ve never seen God, or heard His sound,
So that must mean He’s not around.
Hmm, but they say - God is Love,
Graciousness sent from above.
Can you prove that Love is real?
No, for it’s merely something that you feel.
WHY DON’T YOU BELIEVE IN GOD?
Is your answer narrow or broad?
4. Well, that’s just what I think, end of story,
But your anger on the subject is defamatory.
Perhaps you were scorn by an institution or individual,
That said they represented God but did something unforgivable.
So you think God-believers are fools and hypocrites,
Which in cases is true but that’s not the real heart of it.
Don’t be confused between God and religion,
The former is divine; the latter is division.
WHY DON’T YOU BELIEVE IN GOD?
Sometimes the logic can be quite flawed.
5. Well, I used to once, but now I cannot,
For things didn’t turn out the way that they ought.
That’s a bizarre philosophy,
One in which you, yourself are the deity.
Well, I don’t believe because the Bible’s old and dull,
But when asked, ‘Where Abouts?’ you really don’t know at all.
WHY DON’T YOU BELIEVE IN GOD?
Hey enough, WHY DO YOU BELIEVE IN GOD?
Well, the answers are countless,
Here are a few that have made me doubtless…
I’ve study the body from conception to death,
God can be found in the DNA of every breath.
I’ve witnessed miracles and had one myself,
When doctors said death and God said health.
I’ve examined the laws of nature,
And realize there is a master Creator.
I’ve seen people love those who’ve shown them hate,
This is certainly not a human but a Godly-state.
And when I fine-tune my consciousness,
I can actually sense God’s providence.
Most important, I’ve changed my ways,
Because Jesus died and deserves my praise.
Now as I present this ensemble of proof,
Some of you still remain aloof.
Well, sometimes, pure logic cannot win out,
And faith must cover your feeling of doubt.
But to those who wonder does the list go on and on…?
It does… so WHY DON’T YOU BELIEVE IN GOD?
